This helps his understanding in how to better prevent and resolve illnesses. This combined with a year spent working in a residential psychiatric rehabilitation programs has given him extensive techniques for assiting clients in managing their mental and emotional health.
In his early years of studying and practicing, Michael spent significant time studying with various health professionals both in and outside the Chinese medicine profession. This time was spent developing a comprehensive skills in treating and managing musculoskeletal problems and pain management as well as emotional and psychological disorders.
Since joining the team in 2012, Michael has continued to deepen his understanding and skills; particularly in treating fertility and gynaecological conditions such as PCOS, endometriousus and ammenorrhea. This has been done both through studying the latest research, mentoring from Dr Peter Gu and shadowing him, and peer discussions on various techniques and pathology.
In 2014 he commensed a programe of study into Classical Chinese medicine, the core seminal texts upon which the medicine was based from both acupuncture and herbal traditions. Many of these original herbal formulas are still in current use today and continue to be some of the most effective. This dual focus on both Classical medicine and the latest research allows Michael greater freedom in choosing the best approach in treating stubborn unusual cases.
“Acupuncture, Massage, Chinese herbal medicine, exercise and food therapy are all a part of Chinese medicine. Each has strengths and weaknesses. It is when they are combined correctly that you achieve the best results.”– Dr Michael Hammer
I come from a long line of healers. For many years I pursued other interests, until I found my calling – to be a healer as well!
